How to start counselling?
The initial session will be a useful combination of what you are hoping for and what I offer, coming up with a plan together. You will be able to ask questions about the way that I work. Our on-going sessions will aim to broaden your understanding of the way you are in your relationships and provide an opportunity to experiment with different, more preferred, ways of being.

Situations where relationship counselling on your own is useful:
As an individual you may want to come on your own to work with any of your relationship concerns. These may be making you feel anxious, stressed, sad or depressed. These could be from the past or present about any of the important people in your life such as partners, family, friends or colleagues. It might be about a particular incident, family issues or a repeating pattern in your relationships. If you are coming as a couple or family most of these sessions will be together but individual sessions can be helpful too.

Situations where couple counselling is useful:
In couple counselling, this approach is helpful for a variety of problems which could include: communication problems; arguments and rows; an affair, betrayals; feeling unsatisfied in the relationship; sexual difficulties; a partner experiencing depression; health problems; and difficulties managing changes in your life; separation and divorce. Relationship counselling is not suitable for situations where there is on-going Domestic Abuse.

Situations where family counselling is useful:
Family counselling can help you communicate better together about family issues and manage changes in the family. These could be changes due to separation and divorce. Family counselling is not suitable for situations where there is on-going Domestic Abuse. If you are coming as a couple or family most of these sessions will be together but individual sessions can be helpful too.

The number of sessions:
How long you come for counselling often depends on what you are hoping for and how in-depth you want to go. You are not limited in the number of sessions you can have.

If you are coming as a couple or family most of these sessions will be together but individual sessions can be helpful too.
